Don’t Walk So Proud

Don’t walk so proud.

That famous phrase from my grandmother resonates to my mind many times throughout the day. Don’t walk so proud. Then I thought it meant just keep your head down, now I’m not so sure. Could don’t walk so proud mean don’t look so much like your father? Could it have meant be humble in the eyes of the Lord? Or did it simply mean don’t be so much of a target when sharing your skills. Either way I believe I Existed as if all were true. No anger or shame but since my father wasn’t there I doubt carrying on mannerism similar to his would make my grandmother trust in my future. Biblically speaking pride comes before the fall, but could pride and simply being happy with who you are be one in the same? As for being a smaller target, I doubt seriously my friends in my community had the same worry. I’m not so sure what she meant, but as someone who works in the business of maximizing both physical, mental, and emotional capacity it is essential that people learn to stand proud. Alignment of the spine in such a proud position and allows you to move more freely. It is the foundation of all movement, and I believe it’s also the foundation of emotional intelligence. If one can’t feel happy with themselves and show that freely, then how are they supposed to help someone else share that same feeling.
